The Perfect Pocket Monster Tales: Z-A Mega Evolution Based on the Astrological Sign

This return of Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A has sparked immense enthusiasm across the community. Starting with the one-by-one reveal of newcomers before the game's release, to trainers developing firm opinions on the entire roster of Mega Evolutions, there's a lot for enthusiasts to anticipate.

Given many of the Mega Evolutions showcasing unique appearances that highlight their traits, one thought naturally: How can connect this with astrology? The following is inspired by a mix of intuition, common zodiac traits, and individual observations.

Aries – Super Camerupt

Honestly, Houndour's evolution was almost chosen for Aries, as they are the Mega Pokémon and astrological sign that inspire the most fear. But, a Mega Houndoom appears as constantly angry, which doesn't match the Aries vibe, renowned for being fun, cheerful, and spontaneous. That's why the Ram much more similar to Super Camerupt, which solely spews lava when angered. Stay on the good side of either and benefit from a strong ally; if you cross them, prepare to face the consequences.

The Bull – Super Heracross

Similar to a loyal Taurus, the reliable Heracross, both in its regular and Super Form, has aided many players in Legends: Z-A. Though dependable, both the Pokémon and a Bull are also battle-oriented, and – be it their companion or a firm belief – will stand up for their position unwaveringly. The thing about Mega Heracross that reminds me most of my Bull-sign companions, however, is its unabashed love of snacks. Many previous official descriptions mention their craving for tasty tree sap and how it uses its horn to hoard it all, which is pure Bull-sign vibe.

The Twins – Super Medicham

Look at this total queen. You cannot tell me this Pokémon is not the life of any gathering, providing an endless fountain of gossip to those who wish to listen. Much like an enrapturing, sociable Gemini, it's incredibly simple to envision Super Medicham captivating an entire open area with their tales. Medicham’s Pokédex entry also states its ability to predict an opponent's next moves, which seems quite similar to a socially-savvy Twins.

Cancer – Super Manectric

The Crab is commonly considered as the most emotional sign of the astrological wheel, a passionate sign famous for often getting absorbed in their emotions. Per the official info, Mega Evolution charges the creature with a “tremendous quantity of electricity, but it's too much for this Pokémon to fully control,” which sounds a lot like a classic Cancer emotional outburst. This Pokémon is also recognized for its ability to create a thundercloud over its own head – and if there’s one thing a Cancer is likely to do, it’s rain on their good time.

The Lion – Super Starmie

Well, did you assume I was planning to select Pyroar for the king of the stars? Besides the fact that it would be much too obvious, The Lion is obviously Super Starmie, the star whose gams just became an internet sensation for being too glamorous (or terrifying, based on your taste). Fans couldn’t look away from the purple starfish, and that’s exactly the same vibe a Leo offers to the scene. Starmie is also said to be broadcasting radio waves from its center out into space, and it’s typical of a Lion to be putting on a performance, albeit for aliens.

The Maiden – Mega Victreebel

The always-ready and perpetually-anxious Virgo is ideally represented in Mega Victreebel, the Super Form with perpetual digestive issues. The sign known for being charmingly critical is strongly mirrored throughout this creature's entire lineage, from a always shocked expression like a Maiden when you tell them you lack a 401(k), to its upside-down visage that’s just like the symbol a Maiden sends to the group chat when all says they want to “go with the flow” rather than creating a strategy.

Libra – Super Audino

Observe this gentle, empathetic creature, who employs the feelers on its ears to detect how people are emotionally by their pulse. Always empathetic – sometimes to a detriment – and striving to maintain the harmony, there are many Scales who would likely appreciate Super Audino's abilities. However, to be frank, it would likely just make them worry even more about everyone else.

Scorpio – Mega Banette

This Ghost-type is a Pokémon with a unexpectedly sad backstory: Discarded as a toy, it became sentient through pure resentment and swore revenge on its former owner. According to the official info, Mega Evolution, “increases its spitefulness.” That seems exactly like many discussions I’ve had with my intense Scorpio acquaintances. A Scorpio loves cosmic justice and retribution, making them the perfect match with Mega Banette.

The Archer – Mega Hawlucha

Each Mega Hawlucha and Archers are constantly staging a performance. As a Archer personally, the amount of times I’ve called myself some variation of a “playful little entertainer” is innumerable. The most flamboyant and most obnoxious Super Form, its description even notes how it “flexes to display its power.” I would do the very same thing if I had a Mega evolved form, making Mega Hawlucha the most apt Archer counterpart I can think of.

Capricorn – Super Absol

Did you know that a Super Absol has the ability to predict disasters in advance? That exudes the exact same vibe as a Goat, who often consistently think they’re correct. Interestingly, similar to a prophetic Super Absol, they often are. It’s also the very initial Mega Evolution that players encounter in Legends: Z-A – typical of a Capricorn to join the beginning of the Mega trend.

The Water Bearer – Super Chandelure

Detached element Water Bearer is possibly the non-flame sign that is most like a flame symbol – its sister sign is the Lion, and there are countless memes about Sagittarius and Water Bearer being chaotic partners in crime. Mega Chandelure’s double Ghost/Fire typing fits seamlessly with this, and the Super Form's general intimidating aura is also extremely Water Bearer. If you hadn't yet convinced, the Mega’s Pokédex entry says it “absorbs negative energy and transforms it into power.” If that doesn’t perfectly {encaps
