Outrage as Popular South African DJ Killed in the Heart of Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the forty-year-old entertainer was accosted by three suspects, one of whom began shooting at him before escaping on foot.
The motive behind the shooting is unknown and no suspects have been apprehended have been made, according to authorities.
How It Happened
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was targeted as he was leaving a building near the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the site overseeing the installation of safety equipment, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, it was reported.
"Authorities believe the man was approached by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," authorities confirmed.
Surveillance tape reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ sought to escape after he was shot but succumbed to his injuries on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the incident.
Key evidence, like bullet casings, were recovered from the scene.

Officials are asking anyone who saw the event who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"Our information indicates they covered significant ground after the shooting, and officers have been attempting to locate them to find their location," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, expressed the loved ones are reeling to understand the tragedy.
"I am devastated. I am shattered," she said.
"We know he was a voice for many people. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were ready to discuss. This is a tremendous loss."
She urged the citizens to refrain from sharing disturbing footage from the incident, noting this was an incredibly difficult time, particularly for Stock's three sons.
