Fans Call for Detainment of Individual Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and grabbed the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A widely shared video reveals the individual from Australia bypassing media personnel and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet surrounded by fans.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was spotted being removed of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being taken in", though official papers indicated that he was set to appear on Friday morning. It is unknown if he was formally accused.
Pattern of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has invaded a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile contains videos of him disrupting other high-profile occasions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram user, in a response to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Followers Show Disapproval Over the Star's Well-being
Numerous followers blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the finale of her 2017 performance in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented a further comment on Instagram.
Several fans also questioned security officers at the gathering for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested digital services to ban Mr Wen's videos.
Reaction and Premiere Information
In clips circulating online, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the man. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen comforting her while Mr Wen was escorted away by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good international premiere in a Singapore venue, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it began.
The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a dual adaptation of the acclaimed stage production Wicked, which centers on the unexpected friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The musical itself is a adaptation of the classic book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the character Glinda Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the gathering while Erivo, who plays the Elphaba, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were alongside cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing film of 2024 in the UK, and scored ten award recognitions, winning a pair for best costume and artistic direction.
