Esteemed actress Helen Mirren Will Be Awarded Golden Globe Cecil B DeMille Award.
The acclaimed British actress Mirren, currently winner of an Oscar statuette, four Baftas, three Golden Globes, multiple Emmy accolades, plus a Tony, will soon receive another prestigious accolade to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Globes' lifetime achievement award.
Ceremony Details
Dame Helen, octogenarian, formerly made a dame in 2003 and honored as a BAFTA fellow in 2014, will accept the accolade during a presentation on the eighth of January, just prior to the Golden Globes main event take place, as part of a ceremony promoted by the Globes as the Golden Eve event.
This will also include the awarding of the organization’s Carol Burnett honor for television achievement, the honoree for which remains unannounced. Last year’s winners featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.
“Helen Mirren is a force of nature, and her professional journey is nothing short of remarkable,” remarked the organization’s president, Helen Hoehne. “Her brilliant portrayals and dedication to acting constantly motivate countless performers and audiences alike. It’s a tremendous privilege to award her this lifetime achievement honor.”
Career Highlights
Helen Mirren became well-known in the 1970s with key roles in theater in the West End of London and through the Royal Shakespeare Company as well as in movies including O Lucky Man!, Caligula and The Long Good Friday.
In the 1990s, her starring role in detective drama Prime Suspect increased her popularity significantly. Additional notable movies comprise Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.
She won an Oscar for her portrayal as Elizabeth II in the cinematic work The Queen, a character she reprised in 2013 for The Audience, the stage production by Peter Morgan about the meetings between the queen and premier Margaret Thatcher, a role for which she received a Tony Award back in 2015.
