Both Deceased Students Identified in the Ivy League School Incident as Police Press On With Manhunt for Killer.

Two students who died in the weekend's mass shooting on the university campus had tributes paid to them on Monday – while an intensive search for their shooter carried on following the discharge by local law enforcement of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a sophomore from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Advent Cathedral in Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included vice-president of Brown’s chapter of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared words of sorrow publicly, stating: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her kin and peers, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, an Uzbek national in his initial year at the Ivy League university, his family confirmed.

The victim's identification was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. He harbored grand aspirations of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Details of the Attack

Nine other people were hurt in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s campus in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a man aged 24 detained in a raid at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“There is a killer at large,” stated the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last day or so.”

Public Fear

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, admitted: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our public”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the engineering building on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official informed the news agency.

Law enforcement that entered the inn recovered two handguns and two loaded 30-round magazines when the person of interest was arrested, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one student was released from the hospital, mentioned the university president, Christina Paxson. Seven more were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in Durham, North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a church service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only in her youth... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that particular place as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the group. “Ella was recognized for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and fellow classmates,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to Mr Umurzokov’s family, companions, and fellow students and grieve for of his promising future.”

The fatal shooting at Brown, the country's seventh most historic higher education institution with about 7,300 undergraduate and 3,000 graduate students, happened during one of at least nearly 400 mass shootings recorded nationally so far in the current year, according to data. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
